How does one filter a tank like at Bass Pro Shops?

I mean these places have one or two large tanks filled with various big fish.

So for just one big aquarium- like 20,000 or 40,000 gallons- what kind of filter system would you have to have?

It isn't like a public aquaria with many big tanks so I guess they have a massive recirculated system?

I did know where some pics of a huge indoor pond was and they had a few pics of their filter. I guess they are either deleted or I and searching for the wrong things. Anyway, just picture a huge cannister filter. Several of them.

I saw a special on tv a while back where it showed people scuba diving with vacuums sucking out all the stuff from the rocks. I'm sure that helps a lot.

Lots of huge cannister filters make sense.

It bet they are a pain to clean.

Where in Orlando is that? I need to check that out!

It's right on International Drive. You can see it Right off I-4 by a Belz outlet store. Get off at the Kirkman Rd exit.

They have a really nice large tank inside there. If you hit it at the right time, they have someone there talking about each fish.

At the Fair Park Aquarium in Dallas, all of their FW systems are run off of a single, 55'x25'x3' gravel filter system in the basement. Their 9000G SW shark tank runs off of a 4' tall protein skimmer and a 12' tall x 1.5' thick tube that serves as a fluidized bed filter.

One of the more amazing filter systems I have ever seen.

I'd imagine that at a certain size/point there is no longer a need for any filtration as everything gets processed naturally.

I mean a natural pond doesn't need a filter...so why would a properly designed aquarium? (unless you want to overstock it)

5156 International Dr.
Take I-95 north to the BeeLine (the 528), west. Keep going west then turn onto International Dr. Stay on International for a couple miles and look on the right, you'll see it.

It's real close to Universal Studios.

It's a real "candy store" for those that like the outdoosy things.....
:D
