I hate it when this happens

I went to the fish store today and bought two submersable heaters and they were each 35 dollars there 200 watt... Well I fork out my money and im all happy that i have these two new streamlined heaters but when i get home and open up the packages I find that one of the heaters has been replaced with a different brand of heater and its only 100 watt... Well I go back to the store and have my reciet and everything but i know that there going to be like well how do we know that it wasnt you who replaced the heater and just put this one in. Fortunatly when I go back to the petco and ask to speak with the manager she was very freindly and offerd to exchange the heater but unfortunatly those were the last two on the shelf and i had to choose a different heater than the one that I wanted ... Its tuff to prove but luckly the manager was nice... Ive noticed this alot at fish stores how alot of the things are opend and rumaged through its like half the time theres always a peice missing.. Now its partly my fault I guess because I should have looked in the box to make sure it was all there but at the same time its the stores responsiblity to make sure that what they have on the shelf is whats in the box... If your one of those types who goes to the LFS and rumages through the merchandise to switch things that dont work or to steal a peice that you need,, please think twice about it because your only frustrating another person who is into the fish keeping hobby and it makes it look bad for everyone...

It sucks--but it happens a lot, more when similar size/shape items cost different amounts, making it easy to swap them without being caught. It's even worse in other industries. Always check the packaging to see if it's been opened, and if it has, take the time to go through and make sure that everything is there, intact, and correct. Less hassle later.

If I know I'm going to buy that item, I open it. If you feel more comfortable, wait until you're at the register to do it. Have you looked into shopping online? Drsfostersmith.com, bigalsonline.com, or petsolutions.com generally have 200 watt heaters for around $15, but then you have to pay ~$8 for shipping. I've never had a problem receiving the wrong item in the box as it was labelled from an online vendor.
