Hi my LFS has just got in a stock of Rams and Kribs and they are kept in the same tank there. I was thinking of getting 3 Kribs and 3 Rams and put them in a 29 gallon tank. Has anyone had any experience with keeping these fish together or do you guys think this would be a bad idea (too many in the tank or compatability issues)? Could you recommend a fish that would be compatible with one or the other? Thx for the help.

I would not mix the two species. They do come from slightly different water conditions, and the kribs tend to be a bit hardier and more aggressive than rams. Also, the rams like it a little warmer and are happier with more fastidious maintenance regimens. Well, in my experience at least.

Also, a 29g tank isn't that big for species that do get territorial.

So, I'd pick one or the other and then give them some dither fish and bottom fish as companions.
