Howdy,
I've got two Auratus (Aurati? plural?)--male and female--and an albino-looking cichlid in the same tank. They've been coexisting splendidly for about two months. At first, the male auratus would get lightly aggressive against the female, but they eventually settled down...regular feedings and water changes seemed to make everyone happy.
Noticably, though, the female is outpacing the growth of the male. They came in comparably alike in terms of size...now the female's got the male covered and then some.
If the female so much as spots the male now, a chase pursues with the male eventually ducking in some fake grass or in the castle I've got in there. I haven't noticed any missing/clipped fins.
Any reason for growth to be so different among fish exposed to the same water/feeding conditions?
Note: No one ever bugs the notably smaller albino.
