i have an aquaclear 300 that runs very very silent......i also have a aquaclear 200, that when u take the cover off, on the left side, where the intake connects to impeller, there is a lot of water rippling........anything i can do?????...(even if i slide intake left or right, makes no diff)

I'm not sure what might cause that, but the first thing I would do is clean the impeller and the well it sits in thoroughly - it could be that something is stuck there, or mulm (goo) has built up inside.
Also check to make sure the impeller shaft hasn't become bent - this would cause it to wobble, possibly creating the ripples you're seeing.
If you can't find the cause after cleaning it (and rinse the media as well, to make sure what you're seeing isn't the result of a clogged filter pushing water back into the intake area) you might want to call the manufacturer and ask. Your LFS may also be able to give advice, and hopefully there are others here who may know.
Be careful about cleaning the impeller, if you scrub it too much it can become demagnetized (or so I've heard)
check to make sure the grey plastic cover is on facing the right way. putting it upside down or not seated all the way down will probably cause rippling.
