I have two bronze corys and eggs. How do you tell if the eggs have been fertilized? I forget. Also I can take out the only other fish in there (black molly) if needed. Will the corys eat their young? If there is two females in there will one still lay eggs? How long will the eggs take to hatch?

Thanks

If the eggs turn white, they are not fertilized and should be removed. Not sure about the molly--might, but they are normally not terribly predatory. A pair of females may still lay eggs--but I don't think it's as common with cories as it is with other fish. Eggs should hatch within 7-10 days--you should be able to see the little wrigglers in there by day 3-4.

Congradulations! Did you get to see them spawn? It's a lot of fun.

Thanks :) No I didn't see them do it. They might not have even done it if I were there. They like to hide when I walk in the room. I hear that is normal for that type of cory though. When I woke up there was 35 eggs and someone got to them before I took them out. I saved about 10 and looked at some pictures online and they look fertilized. Hopefully they will hatch.

I have had cory catfish lay eggs without a male being present so it is possible. Usually when we spawn our cory cats ( 3 types ) we use a ratio of one female to 3 males in a 10 gallon tank.
Your Molly could have been the one who helped weed out some of those eggs. We have approx 25 Corydoras aeneus "bronze" in a community 55 gallon livebearer tank. They lay eggs all the time and the Platies, mollies, swordtails eat them as fast as they can lay them.

Eggs should hatch in 3 to 4 days and will use up their yolksac after 3 days.
infusoria is a good first food on the 4th day if you have some. After the 7th day finely crushed flake is usually easily eaten.

By the time I replied to this your eggs should have hatched.. you posted on the 8th I replied on the 15th... If you eggs have not hatched by now they are almost guaranteed no good.

The eggs need constant water movement, most eggs are laid in the the outflow from filters, or in the upward draft of a sponge filter. If you remove the eggs in the future use a small tank with an airstone, add 1 drop methlyn blue and cover to keep light out. check back in 3 days....
We are currently getting about 80% hatch rate in the Bronze/green cory's( LFS won't take them anymore ) :-)
approx 70% with the Corydoras paleatus, the 'Peppered Cory' , and I hate to say only 50% survival rate with the C. Panda.

The other species we are collecting but not working with yet.
