I have a Dwarf Gourami which has a tear in it's anal fin and a black spot above the tear on the side of it. What is wrong with it and how do I treat it?

More info, please...? Are there other fish in the tank that could have nipped him? Does he have anything that looks like fungus eating his fin away? How is the ammonia level in your tank? I have heard of high ammonia causing black discolorations at injury sites. Is he eating? Active?

There are no other fish in that tank that bother him, he is actually the "tough fish" of my tank. Ammonia is almost nothing. The only thing that was bothering him was a confused male molly that often would try to breed with him as if he was a female molly. I got rid of that fish about three weeks ago. My Gourami is active and eats very well. He really shows no other signs of any illnesses.

Hmmm...without actually being able to see him, I'll say I guess you oughtta just wait and see. Wait and see if he still eats and acts normal, wait and see if it heals up on it's own. You could try and help the torn fin along with some Stress Coat or Melafix, just to be sure it will heal up quick. As for the black spot, who knows?
