Just curious if any of you local guys here in good ole' Pa know of any good local Live rock distributers... I live about 40 miles from That Pet Place http://www.thatpetplace.com/ and figuring on that. To me that would be my only option as far as stores go. Quality ones anyway!!! I have a nice local pet store that has a wide variety of marine fish but I can see the live rock costing like $20.00 a pound there :thud: .. Sometimes people know of people that sell this stuff as well.. I remember about a year ago my dentist was telling me about a guy that was local that sold this stuff resonably. But he moved on to a new practice and I never wrote down the guys name or info.. Darn...

Just curious what some of you guys local to me do or buy from.. Looks like Tampa is the best bet and looks to be very resonable....

Thanks for your info...

"That Pet Place" is the best place around for us here in Central PA. I'm in the process of starting up my 38g FOWL, so i'll be stopping down there soon. I think the last time I was there their live rock was like $7/lb, and that was probably about 6 months ago. I'm also considering purchasing from www.liveaquaria.com , they have great deals on live rock. I order from www.drsfostersmith.com all the time, they own liveaquaria.com, and they always have great service/selection...

Another good place if you want to travel to Philly is the Hidden Reef (kinda tough to find if you dont know the area, but well worth it). I got about 60lbs of Fiji from them and have seen everything from mini-stars to shrooms to jellyfish coming out of the rock!!! Loads of bacteria also. Oh, and the rock (uncured) was only $3.79/lb!

Tony`s tropical fish and birds in York has good LR for $7 per pound.

Thanks for the info.. I actually went to that pet place and picked up about 5lbs of cured live rock... So far so good.. I would like to check out hidden reef in the near future... I fould thier web site and looks like a big place... I would also like to check out Tony's but not sure how far York is? Does Tony's have a web site MaryPa?

Again , thanks for your info.. Oh yeah I bought Cured Cultured Fiji rock for $5.99 per lb and cured Fiji rock for $4.99 per lb... My LFS wanted $7.00 for rock that looked like nothing buy brown algae.... Nothing else on it.. You can see pictures of the rock I got here... http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39637

Thanks again..

honestly its not worth buying LR from most lfs...they tend to carry poor quality rock (at most of the stores I've been to) and dont try to hard to cure it...
Buy from an online vendor that sells live rock as their sole business, that way you can guarantee your getting quality stuff...otherwise your gonna be going from store to store and looking at stuff that is sold as LR but looks like dead rock...

Its worth the extra hassle to order it and have it shipped.

btw I like the look of the rock in ur pics. especially the one with the hole! thats always fun
