I need assistance on whether to feed these crawfish I obtained.

These crawfish were obtained from a Vietnamese Supermarket and were free. I saw these little buggers in a metal tub, maybe 50-100 altogether clumped up. Some were dead, so i raked the tub real quickly and gathered the two that were the most active. These guys are maybe 3 inches long and I'm going to rip off the claws and break their tails. I'll break their tails since my puffs are really slow...

SHOULD I FEED THEM TO MY FIGURE EIGHTS OR NOT?!?! I really dont see the diff b/t frozen and fresh.

I would feed them to the puffs it will keep them excited for awhile.

Might be fun to watch too

you might want to wait to see if they are sick or not though

No bacteria problems? I dont want my puffs i spent $40 for to die of a disease from these crayfish i got for free.

should i freeze them and thaw them for my puffers?

Ehhh, no...i wanna freeze them to kill the bacteria maybe

Well if not having them live doesnt matter than freeze or boil them and it should work. Freezing keeps more nutrients but boiling is way faster

Ok, I cut off the tails of the live crawfish with kitchen scissors...nice...slowly....painfully...errr- Ahem!

Anyway, My gobies and puffers feasted niceley on the tails, and i was pleased. When they could no longer gorge themselves, i put the two tails in my Ghost Shrimp tank to finish and clean the tails.

It seems next time to buy ONE tail, not two. I just hope that my fish are OK internally. I hope there are no bugs, but i let the crawfish "cleanse" themselves in water as they usually do when they get scared. (they poop when they're scared :D)

Thanks anyways,

Freeze, to rid them of any nasties they may have picked up. Then crack their parts with a nut cracker, plyers, or hammer, so they can get at the meat.
