Hello,
I would like to know an acidic or neutral substrate to go on top of peat that will keep the peat from floating and will not make my water alkaline. Just in case anyone needs to know, I am setting up a 40 gallon tall aquarium and it will have plants. Thankyou! Nancy
 
Laterite, though I'm not sure how well it will hold the peat down. Silica play sand or regular aquarium gravel will work as well.
