I’m trying to breed bettas. And the female has shown signs of “stripes" down her side when I put her in a cup into the male bettas tank. Well the thing that I am having problems with is that my female doesn't seem to be getting fat with eggs. I've been conditioning her with Freeze Dried Bloodworms, a few betta pellets, and an occasional brine shrimp (frozen). I have been trying to condition her for quite some time. I’ve noticed that some pictures of female bettas when they are pregnant, they are huge and its noticeable, mine's not really noticeable I don’t even know if she’s full of eggs or not. Anything I’m doing wrong? Btw she’s in a 10g community tank and the male is in his own 2.5g. Sorry if any of this is confusing. Thanks in advance.

I'm by no means an expert of betta breeding but you seem to be along the right lines. Is the male building a nest?
Your best bet is to Google betta breeding and read as much as you can.
Good luck and make sure you have plenty of storage ready for when then do spawn. :)

no expert here either but I believe I had someone tell me you need to keep the male and female close to eachother so they can see eachother and flare up. the male will build a bubblenest and then you can add the female. Kyle

Yea, I know a quite a bit about it just by reading and reading..but the part im having difficulty with is getting the female betta to produce eggs..i mean maybe she is and i just dont notice it because she isnt that fat. but to answer your question, yes the male has been building bubble nests..Thanks for the input guys
