I've been working on cleaning my tank before I fill it. Today I noticed that the silicone strips, or whatever they are, on the corners have some nicks. Like someone was using a razor to clean it and accidentally got too close to the corner a couple of times. It's a 55 gallon glass tank and I took it into my backyard and filled it up with water. No problems yet.

Is this something I should be worried about? I have nightmares of the tank breaking and all that water going everywhere. I'm new to this and I don't know how tolerant tanks are and how much stress they can stand.

Thanks for any advice.

I don't think you need to worry too much. The silicon between the glass panes is actually what holds the tank together.
