Riccia Opinions

I was at the LFS the other day and saw some Riccia, it was beautiful. I used to have some, but was unable to grow it very well so I sold it off. Currently, I am thinking of getting some (lots) and will increase the lighting. I currently have four 55 watt 6700k compact flouresents. I would increase this to 6 of the same bulbs. In addition, I have CO2 injection (DIY).

My fish are discus, ottos, bristlenose plecos, cories and German Rams. I currently have beard algae problems, but keep it under control by picking it off with tweasers.

Should I go for it? I would have to shell out about $120 for the additional lighting fixture + the cost of the riccia, or am I doomed for failure? BTW, its a 110 gallon aquarium.

I have a 10 gallon tank and I just bought two 19 watt CF screw in bulbs for the hood. is this enough light for riccia? thanks.

Wow, talk about old threads slowly resurfacing.

Anyways, at 3.8 wpg, you'll be able to grow the Riccia, but make sure you keep on top with nutrients and CO2 injection

thanks, I didn't want to start a whole new thread for what i'm sure is a repetitive question around here. I just set up DIY CO2 and I have a bottle of the Seachem trace elements, so hopefully those will cover the rest of the nutrients! thanks again.

I read somewhere that macros are replaced during regular water changes, is this true? I also have some fish in there providing a little bit of macros..
