Question about the big angels

I've just recently gained an apprecation for the larger marine angelfish. In particular, I like the Koran, the Emperor, and especially the Queen. My question is, how fast do these guys grow? I'm thinking about setting up a ~70 gallon reef tank in the near future. Obviously, the above mentioned fish will all out grow this tank easily, but it would be nice to know how long I could house them in this size tank. Also, if I end up getting one of these angels I will get the smallest juvenile I can find.

Don't stick any of them in a reef... especially with sponges; they will be gone before you know it.

From what I know, they don't grow extremely fast, but once they do get too big, you won't want to get rid of it... especially if you raised it from a Juvenile.

Welcome to Aquaria Central! A couple of problems come to mind. 1) like parrotfish100 mentioned, none of those angels are reef safe- they do best in a FOWLR system (Fish Only With Live Rock) and you can supplement some live sponges for them to chow on occasionally. 2) Never buy really tiny angels. They have about a 1% survival rate. They have extremely high caloric needs and it is a very bad idea to buy really small ones. The best size to get is one that is between 3-5 inches. Also with lg angels especially, they are very tempermental so it is best to put them in the tank they are going to spend the rest of their lives in. They don't do well with stress and moving them to a whole new set up is extremely stressful. I would just wait till you get a large tank and then enjoy them. Anyway, hope this helps and good luck!
