My saltwater emperor 500 is no longer working. I am going to get a aquaclear 500 to replace it. Will I have to let the tank cycle again since I am getting a new filter and will this hurt any of my livestock. I have a 80 gallon reef and fish aquarium Thanks nananurse
 
I switched mine over to a similar system (using chaeto and lighting) without any problems. No cycle, no nothing but more clear water, lower nitrates and less noise :)
 
stick your media from your old filter in the new filter as it is this that cotains the bacteria but also leave your new media in so it gets seeded...
