i'm probably gonna go ahead and guess that you didn't cycle the tank before buying the fish......If you haven't, then the best thing to do is take your fish back, and read up on cycling. If the tank is cycled and there is nowhere else to put the fish in, then you can put them in the tank as long as it is not too silty (can't see anything silty). They should have no problems, as the sand will pass through gill with no problems. I remember reading about this before.....If your tank is not cycled your fish will either die, or they will be extremely stressed, leading to shorter life spans and disease, so that is your first priority.
