As most know, we're getting a large system move through the Midwest... places like all of Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and south east Michigan are expected to get a hefty amount of snow. In my area, they're saying 6-10 inches... in places south of me in Ohio, they're declaring as much as 16 inches could be left behind!

Just be safe no matter where you are this holiday season. Many people travel Ohio roads (the turnpike), and as well many people travel Interstate 75 which will be a mess for about 500 miles... :(

Anyone live in these areas? I know here in Michigan we haven't got any snow yet, but other places south of us have reported white out conditions.

No predictions for big snow in the Rockies--it's coming down right now, but they are forecasting less than 2 inches for most places. Just enough to make roads nasty for today and tomorrow. Friday is supposed to warm up a little, so roads should be clear for Saturday and Sunday. It's cold though--19 right now, 6 with the windchill, and our forecast high for tomorrow is currently a whopping 3.

So--take care everywhere! Have an emergency kit handy with water, food, blankets, candles, batteries, etc.

Yikes that’s horrible. Right now, at 7 pm it is 22* F. and tomorrow it is supposed to be 24*. I think that is cold enough. Do you all who have regular winters with temps in the single digits experience a high heating bill?

I live in Athens, OH, but my mom lives up north in Ashtabula, OH. She is located in the heart of the snow belt and gets pounded with lake effect snow regularly. I will be driving up there on Friday, so I'm hoping the snow slows a little. She got nearly 12" in the last 2 days!

It's Nasty here Cory.....Cleveland is right on the line between rain and snow right now (5:30 AM) and its just laying down ice. We got about 14-16 inches of snow last 24 hours here, and now about an inch of ice so far...and they say another foot of snow later this afternoon and tonight, but not until we get at least another inch of ice. Everythign is pretty much crippled for now, but the crews are out and traffic is moving again, although they say you shoudlnt go anywhere if you dont have to. West of us, towards Toledo and all, it getting all now and tons of it....some places well over two feet now and more coming....

My car is covered in a sheet of snow and ice so Im debating whether or not to even go to work today. I can't even get the door open so I'm just chilling with a coffee while I decide what to do. Today is my last work day until Tuesday but I really need to go in and get my laptop. All that shovelling I done last night was a waste of time too. Oh well. What will be will be.

-3 right now, not including the wind chill--that takes us down to about -21. We got about 2 inches of snow, at a guess--with 20+ mph winds, it's hard to tell.

My sympathies to those in the ice storms--not fun. Our roads are in decent shape, just visibility problems. There was a 19 car pile-up on the road I take home last night--so just TAKE IT SLOW! Being late is better!

Had freezing rain after dark and put down about 1/2 of ice. The power was off and we sat and listened to the sound of limbs falling for a long time. Not as bad as the ice storm in '96, but still an eerie sound

All I can say is WOW. We here in South East Michigan have about 7.5 inches of snow. It is now sunny and the snowstorm is over, but there was severe drifting this morning and it is expected to continue (the drifting) until tonight. I was thigh deep in a snowdrift going out to my car this morning... the snow was sculptured nicely and it almost would have been nice to see, except that my car doors were frozen shut! After nearly 20 minutes of prying the doors apart, they opened. I didn't want to risk an accident, even though I was only going about 2 1/2 miles to get the paper and coffee... so I hopped in my Ram 2500 and that thing is a beast! ;)

I feel we got lucky in that the snow started later for us, and we didn't get much ice at all. The snow is fluffy so it makes it easy to shovel. Places off towards Sandusky, Ohio got nearly 20 inches of snow!
