Hello everyone,
I am based in the UK and new to the forums and this is my first post so please go easy on me...! guess I'll start with a description of my tank...
The tank is a regular 4' tank, I have dual 200W visitherm heaters set to 27°C (80°F), an Eheim Classic external canister filter, dual air stones and an Eheim powerhead with filter foam. There's various plants, rocks ands bogwood in there too.
In the tank is a 12 month old Red Tail Black Shark, three 12 month old Clown Loaches, three 9 month old U/D Catfish, four 9 month old Harlequins, a dozen 12 month old 5-line Barbs, a two month old male Betta and a two month old Ruby Shark.
It's a really lovely tank with all the fish getting along swimmingly (pun intended) but in the past few months, one of my catfish has seemingly got a really big belly on it.
This catfish is a greedy guts and does barge out and eat a lot of the orange biscuit type foods I put in for them, but they only eat once a day and I expect if I put more in they would eat them. I was just wondering though if the fish might be ill or perhaps pregnant...? No other fish seem affected, including the other two catfish, one who is quite small and the other a medium size. Neither of those have fat bellies on them.
Here's a picture so you can see the fish in question (S)he's sat up against the heater.
Any pointers / ideas appreciated...!
