New tank, old fish

As I recently discovered that my tank is grossly overcrowded I have decided to get a new tank. MY question is what is the best way for me to set up the tank and get the fish into it? Do I need to do a fishless cycle or can I use the existing water and add to it? I don't know very much about keeping aquariums, though I have learned a lot in the past few days from this site, and I think it has been pure luck that my fish have survived this long. I would like to keep them alive as I have become quite attached to them.

Another question is this. Currently my fish are in a 10g. I've been advised that I need at least a 55g to house tham all without overcrowding. If I were to get another tank and split them, what would be the best way to split them and what would be the minumum size tank i would need to get in addition to the current 10g one? Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

1 clown loach
1 common pleco
2 cory catfish (one albino, one green)
2 silvertip tetras
2 garnet pretty tetras
1 dwarf aquatic frog

Well, the Clown Loach and the Pleco I'd definitely put into the 55g. Dunno much about amphibians, I was always more of a reptile person, but if the frog is a big pooper/messy eater, I'd slap him in the 55g as well. I'd also move either the silvertip or pretty tetras to the 55 and then add 3 more silvertips. The coryadoras are fine in the 10.

Your tetras are small fish, I doubt they will grow over 2". I would say that you could keep the tetras and the frog in the 10g tank. The pleco and the clown loach are where you've got your size problems, they can get up to 18 and 12 inches respectively. I don't keep any fish of this size but I'm sure someone will kindly help you out with what size of a tank they would require.
