Do you keep the lead weights on some of the plants? I like pennywort, but I have trouble keeping it in place. I decided to keep the lead weight on the new batch that I bought.
Thanks

Love the plant......despise it's root system. It is the first plant I check to determine the oxygen content of my water table, as it pearls quite readily.
I bury a leaf or two along with the roots and it will stay down for as long as the roots are viable - about 1 month - 6 weeks, IME.
Much of your success with them staying down hinges on your substrate. I use Flourite which is small diameter and facilitates keeping plants in place better than larger diameter material.
Pennywort wants to float. It also grows better as a floater, but can become quite beautiful grown as an in-substrate plant, if given the time to develop.
Having gone off on this tangent, in answer to your question, the lead weights won't hurt anything if you use them. Or you can stick the ends under a rock or a piece of wood. A very forgiving plant.
