I would like to say "hello" to everyone and note this is my first post. I hope to gain some valuable insights from this board. My tanks include

46g bow with one bluegill, one clown knife, and one pleco
20g hi with 2 very small Pacu (Saving for a 90g to put these guys in)
and a 10g with a few small goldfish

The bluegill is abouth the size of my hand now and is truley a unique and enjoyable pet. He has a great peronality, loves to see me, and loves being the center of attention.

RCA, tell us your first impressions of what's new since you last poked around in aquariums? New slant? new emphasis? new tech?

Welcome to you too, variable! you'll find there are a handful here at AC who are keeping Native American fish.

Last time I was into the hobby much was in the mid 80's, when I had a 30 gallon freshwater tank, and a 20 gallon saltwater. Things came to a stop when college came, then work, then hanging out with my buddies.

Anyway, I've been very impressed with the new types of filtration available, such as bio-wheels. Plus, protein skimmers(?) and live rock in salt-water aquariums, not to mention actually being able to keep a reef-type of an aquarium!! wow.

I also am amazed at the new types of fishes recently (?) discovered, such as many types of exotic plecos. And the many different types of fish food available (I used to feed my fish flakes only).

It seems a lot easier now to keep fishes alive.
Plus having the internet makes it even easier to learn about the new stuff!!

Welcome to AC, Variable and RCA. It will be a pleasure to share experiences with you both. You're at the best spot I've found for info on aquariums. Great people, great info, great experience!
