I purchased a flame hawk online about a month ago. He is gorgeous-orange red and loaded with personality-this is THE fish that convinced me to do SW

He immediately attacked and ate my camel shrimp so I put the cleaner shrimp that had arrived with him into a small breeding tank. It was meant to be temporary but I haven't been able to decide between the two

Then my butterfly died(not a fish for a newbie-I now know)and I decided to replace him with a basslet and goby-also online

Well, the basslet wasnt in good shape from the get go and hid until this am(2 days) when I found him under the powerhead-he looked bit up and I moved the powerhead by the cord to get a closer look at which point the flame swooped in and bit him. The basslet is now in yet another breeder-I am not optimistic but he isnt dead yet(veryyy close)

I was still determined to see my pretty hawk as a nice guy-after all the basslet was weak to begin with-then I found my new goby under the same powerhead with mouth wide open and the hawk staking him out

Decision made-hawk will go to LFS. I caught him and put him in the breeder previously occupied by the shrimp who is now free .....

Question-will the flame be okay up at the top in the small breeder for 24 hours? I know he hangs low because of the swim bladder thing but he isnt in danger up high, is he?

Dilemna? I knew enough to buy the flame last because he was a predator but if you have a loss, well, you're going to buy another fish, KWIM? Is there anything I could have done to better the situation?

Besides a qt tank which would have at least allowed the basslet to be strong before it had to encounter the flame? (Im learning-slowly ;))
