Im working on retexturing a couple characters in a game, and I cant figure out how to change jungle camo into urban camo.

Any hip hop clothing will hide you in urban areas.

I think that he means that he wants to change the various shades of green into shades of grey.

Actually, that will depend on the how the game stores images and what software you have for the graphics editing. Personally, I use Corel Graphics but that is one of the more expensive tools. If you want inexpensive software, you should look at either JASC Paint Shop or a program called "The Gimp".

I know that, Ive already got the image open (it was stored as a .tga file)

I just wanted help actually changing the colors in photoshop. I did it probably the slowest way possible, by actually painting in new colors. I lost all the shading and what not of the original as well. Oh well.

Not sure how similar Paint Shop Pro is, but to do it in PSP, I would select the areas I wanted to change, then go to Colors: Hue/Saturation/Lightness. Or, for going with a grey tone, PSP has an option to convert to black and white. Works very well. Preserves shading and such.

OG's on it, Slip. The easiest way is to drop the saturation of colors way down. The green will be the biggest problem so you can go after that individual by using the Replace Color command. You could go to grayscale but that will turn the camo colors a bit too cold I think. I could take a run at it if you want to email me the file.

In Photoshop, you probably want to go to Image, Adjustments, Hue/Saturation or press CTRL+U.

Then you probably want to create a layer or two over the camo. You can put all manner of filters into a layer and leave the rest of the picture alone. Also, if you have the colors saved as RGB I would leave a litle bit of the blue in for purely aesthetic reasons.

I'm a self proclaimed photoshop expert with 5 years of experience ;)

what I would do is go to image>adjustments>channel mixer, check the "monochrome" checkbox and move the sliders until you get the result you want, which will probably be mostly green, like 60%, with some red and blue, but mess around and see what looks good. Then use Levels to make it look better.
