Hi all
Set up a new 20g tank yesterday - will be planted. I picked up a Hagen CO2 kit ... the kind you add plain white sugar and the provided stabilizer and activation packets. I put it in yesterday afternoon, but still no bubbles. Well, the occasional bubble... one every 5 minutes.. doesn't seem right. Is it possible the packets were defective? Should I wait or clean it out and set it up fresh?
Ideas?

Thanks

Well, I've never used or heard of that particular kit, but I've done the DIY CO2 before(w/ the sugar/yeast/water mixture) and I know that the yeast *can* become defective if its not in a cool environment and/or you have it for too long, since after all, its *technically* a living organism. That would give the problem you describe. I don't know if there is another reason for what you're seeing. anyone?

The Hagen CO2 dispenser can take up to 48 hours to stabilize and produce proper results. After the 48 hour period if you are still having the same results then you may look at the setup and ensure that your output nozzle is properly set. (The security tab should be in the slot on the output nozzle). Here is a reference from AquariumGuys.com with information about the setup to ensure that yours is right. http://www.aquariumguys.com/nutrafinco2.html Good luck.
