I got a new pike cichlid today. it was in an unmarked tank so i'm not sure of the species yet. i looks like a green pike to me, but i'm just getting into pikes. i'll post a picture tomorrow when i get a camera. he is about 3.5", what should i try feeding him tomorrow? or should i wait a couple days and hope he is hungry enough to start right out on pellets? i was planning a community tank so i had 10 tiger barbs in there and a bristlenose pleco, and still building when i got bored with them and bought the pike. how long you think the barbs will last before they are lunch? they are about .75", i would call them "medium" sized tiger barbs.

make sure you have a covered tank so you dont have a suicide act. That is what we woke up to thismorning, our striped pinke jumped out by the filter.

My red pikes used to try to eat anything, regardless of size. I'd say anything in that tank small enough to fit in its cavern of a mouth is on the menu.
