i have the emperor 280 on my 29 gallon tank. does anoyne know how i can avoid/prevent/fix the tiny bubbles that appear when the water comes out of the filter. it makes my tank look cloudy from far away. thanks in advance for the help! :)

How long has the tank been setup? if its new and not cycled, it might not be the filter.
In fact if the bubbles aren't going to the top and POPing, they probably aren't air. Did you rinse the filter cartrige before installing?

yeah the tank is fully cycled, its been up for months now. ive always noticed the bubbles but ignored it, now its a little annoying lol so i figured id ask on the forum. its def air because it floats right to the top after it hits the water. but it just makes it look cloudy and dirty

Two things you can try: make sure the water level in the tank is as high as possible; this can prevent the little bubbles by not making the water drop so far. Also, you can twist the biowheels a bit -- grabbing the ends of the wheel and turn in opposite directions -- so that the pleats are a bit angled (relative to the spillway chute). These sometimes help with the bubbles. I sometimes notice them on my tanks with Emps, but I never found it to be that unsightly.

livwyr25, i know what you mean! My brother has a Penguin 125 on his 70 ltr (gallons conversion anyone?) tank, and only recently has started producing fine bubbles which make the tank look cloudy. They are starting to annoy me (I maintain his tank because i am fed up with mine).

I was wondering whether they are due to salt, because only on the last water change (somewhere at the start of this week) i added aquarium tonic salts, but I don't know whether this affects the bubbles in the water. When the water level runs low in the tank, the filter produces bubbles, but they floated to the surface, and were quite big. But these bubbles now are small and float quite slowly, hardly getting to the surface. Also, if you look from outside below the tank up at the surface of the water, you can see little floating bubbles.

I have read that if you have foam on the surface of the water, it means something is wrong, but not having seen this 'foam', i don't know whether it is or not. I was wondering whether anyone has had this problem, and how they sorted it.
