First, sorry no pics (yet).

The IDing issue...large (approx. 2") worm like things, quite fat, are starting to come out of the lr. A few of them look like they have died, and others just look like they are moving around on the sand bed. Light in color, with the front (I guess) having a noticable tip and what looks like a hole on the top facing forwards. The other end is dark with a flat end. Quite fat throughout the body, and probably 1/4" in diameter. Sorry about no pics at this time - still trying to find out how to work the camera - but any info is appreciated.

Peanut worms?

Search on flat worms, nudibranchs, and see hares. There's a variety of each out there, so you'll need to patience to look through them all. Some flat worms are parasites, most nudibranchs are feeding obligates that are hard to keep alive.

Actually, after doing a search on Peanut Worms, there is a good possibility you are right (and to think I doubted you!). I assume that these are harmless after reading a little?

Yes, peanut worms are harmless detrivores--a good thing to have in a tank, though they can be startling to see the first few times. :)
