Doesn't this hobby get annoying sometimes? you think you've got a great setup all is well, then a couple of deaths - get worried all fine agian, then the problem is should i buy new fish to replace. :thud: then the thinking and thinking what could i have which fish are compatable. ;)

i've got coursework to to as well and all i can think of at the moment is fish. :OT: Please take i mine of fish for at least a couple of hours???

Please put me out of this :sad - could i put anything else into my 40g. i've lost 4 fish over the xmas holidays one to illness and 3 rasbora to old age i think had them 3 years and moved 5 fish out into different tank, so to me it looks empty.

tankmates now
1 angelfish
8 rasbora
3 swordtails
1 guppy
1 clown pleco
3 ottos

i don't want anymore ottos, guppies. Can't get any rasbora as the angel has grown and might eat any small fish introduced. Don't want corys as they are the fish i moved out - trying to breed them and i was difficult to make sure they were eating well as the swordtails nicked everything put into the tank.

what could i have? what about bolvian rams spelling  or just more swordtails, i love black mollies??? like salt????

Yup, I believe that is what I would do, were I in your situation. Beautiful fish, no doubt.

Are you looking for something amazing and unique? How about some really nice Kribensis? Or ditch the Angelfish and go for some Leaf Fish?

Ok, I'm just reminiscing and lamenting some of the fish that I've had and taken back to the dealer. I need to kick myself for being restless back then. More mature now, fortunately. But seriously, I truly think Boesmani Rainbows would make a good choice for you.

It's been so long since I've had them. Perhaps six years ago. But they are not hard to take care of. There are some things you can do to make them show their most brilliant colors.

I fed them Tetra color enhancing flakes, as well as OSI color flakes. They were not demanding at all. If I had them in a tank by themselves, they probably would have mated. I only had two. But get more if you can. They would probably be more comfortable in a larger group.

A dark, planted tank would have been better. But, at that time, I was into experimenting. I wanted to know how healthy I could keep a tank if I did away with cycling and went with water changes and chemical filtration as a substitute. I had a new tank, with all new equipment, and a large canister filled with chemical filtration running. No gravel. The tank was very lightly stocked. It worked. I never got any ammonia measurements or anything. But, yeah, it was high maintenance doing lots of water changes and replacing the chemical media. The tank probably never went into any kind of cycling. The Rainbows were healthy. Only two in a 40 gallon breeder tank. With a cory cat, if I remember accurately.

if your losing fish why not stick with what you got for a little while? i was like you a while ago - i loved adding new fish couldnt get my mind off the tank etc - i was fortunate i never had major problems but came close - i started a q tank because i valued the citizens of my tank so much i didn't want to risj catastrophe. I had a major disease outbreak in my q tank and am SOOOOO grateful i q'd the hatchet fish i bought. The disease ravaged in the q tank taking at 6-7 fish. i have 4 fish left in there that seem fine now , but will never see my regulat tank as i belive these fish may have resisted whatever disease it was and may not be carrying the disease in a latent way. I am afraid to add new fish to my tank to tell you the truth because i have a bunch of full grown angels i adore - i would set up a q tank then put new fish in - i wont ever put fish in without q'ing them first now

I am leaving it for awhile, i just wanted to now what i could add..

found out the rasbora could have died when my heater broke, caused temperature to rise to 31C, this could have also brought on the illness in the ram.
the tank has been treated and all the other fish are fine and healthy.

LFS didn't have any Boesmani Rainbows, but did have dwarf neon rainbows.
anybody had experience with these, would they be safe in my tank? how many could i have???

thinking of swapping my livebears for a shoal of rainbows- howmany could i get then safely????

then have
1 angel
8 rasbora
1 clown pleco
3 ottos
X dwarf rainbows
