I want to know what fishes will care for their youngs instead of eating them, if there are any.

Aquariacentral.com has a rather nice database of different species.
...And my pike cichlids were excellent parents with respect to protecting the fry.
I've read that they're great parents, parading their babies around the tank and such. Also, they're very colorful, fun to watch and are supposed to be fairly easy to care for too.
