Hi. I just got a new elegant corycat and added him to a tank that already contained a corycat. I know the original is male, and the new one looks the same (to my untrained eyes) but I have observed quite a lot of nuzzling and one even rolled over belly side up for a moment :o ....thats what really panicked me. I don't think I want a bunch of little corys running around the house!

sorry couldn't resist, maybe cause one only has one eye

Sorry again, I apologize!

I think that maybe the cats are so happy to have a friend to swim w/that maybe that is just it. I know my dwarf spotted cories love to be together. Don't know about the elegant ones but I have heard several times that they do not like to be alone. Have also heard that they like to be in groups of 3 or more.

Good luck and hopefully not a lot of kiddies. An expert w/cories maybe able to give more insight

Cory Cats are fun aren't they?!!! :dance

Even if they are male and female, the chances of a sucessful mating and having viable eggs in a standard aquarium is pretty low. Generally the eggs die off very fast due to fungus or other fish eating them. So I wouldn't worry too much.

Glad to hear I dont have to worry too much.

hehehe, maybe it is because the one cant see too well. :) In any case, I am glad they are so happy to be together. The new one was the last one in the tank at the store, and I dont think he was happy, he was hiding behind a rock in the back corner....maybe they are old friends, after all, the first one came from that tank originally....:)
