I've noticed that in everyones pictures nobody ever leans their LR against the glass of the aquarium. Is there a reason that people dont do this? I've noticed most just pile up the rocks in the center of the tank and leave room all the way around them.

In my tank I have leaned most of the rock up against the inside walls of the tank (except the front wall) but now I wonder if this is a bad idea.

Some of mine leans up against the back wall. The problem with having it touching or very close to the other sides is cleaning around it. I try to keep all my LR at least the distance of my magnetic cleaner away from the glass. My Goby does his best to move it though!!

you would have dead spots with no current getting to it unless you compensated for it. but having a big pile of rocks can have gross waste built up inside them too.. up to you, i wouldn't want to scratch my glass. I think that a big pile is more sturdy than a bunch of smaller piles.
