Hi, I currently have a 29g that I started a fishy cycle. 5 guppies dead, 1 remaining and 2 platy's seem to be doing ok. The problem is my filter is leaking. I bought a new one emperor biowheel 400 I think. The problem is I don't think the media from my old filter will fit in the new one. I don't want to chance it anyway if it does.
I decided to do a fishless cycle with the new filter when it arrives. The tank I have used to have hamsters in it about 7 years ago. I rinsed it out, but may not be able to get rid of all the whatever is in there. I think it is a 10 gallon tank.
How much ammonia do I put in it to begin cycling with the new biowheel? When I do switch the filters is it ok just to switch getting rid of everything in the old one and just replacing it with the one I'm doing the fishless cycle with?
thanks!
