Hi,

This morning I have noticed a white lump on my Gouarmi's pectoral(?) fin, I was hoping you guys could help me identify the problem and suggest some medication (if required). I have a attached a picture I managed to take of it with my mobile phone (quality not great).

One thing to note is that my Nitrate reading is very high, 80ppm, this is due to my tap water itself having a Nitrate reading of 80ppm, I have another thread about this asking about advice. Could this be the cause?

It could be an injury, or a parasite, but I doubt it's directly related to NO3 levels. The best advice I can offer is to keep an eye on it. If it doesn't get worse, and the fish doesn't seem bothered by it, I'd leave well enough alone. If s/he gets more lumps, or this one gets larger, or other fish start to get them, that's when I'd become really concerned. I had a fish who sprouted bumps but appeared otherwise fine - the lumps went away, and the fish is still with me. Never did figure out what caused it.

Thanks for the advice, I was a bit worried as that is my fav fish. After going out for the day I checked again and it has now dissapeared, not sure what that means.

I think I should really be posting in the newbie forum with stuff like this!
