I did have an artificial coral plant in my tank until today. Ive not seen my peppermint shrimp for a while and i wanted to move some rocks so i thought id kill 2 fish with 1 stone and have a look for him while i moved stuff around. I lifted up the artificial plant (which is hollow inside with a water inlet underneath) and all this white cloudy stuff came out that smellt really bad. I can only assume that was the remains of my shrimp that must have become trapped in there.
Now i am faced with a dilema. Idealy i would like to do a water change because the shrimp may have infected the water and i lost an arrowhead crab a few days ago. But... I have just put a new fish in the tank yesterday and its still settling in to its new surroudings. So, what do i do??? would it be safe to do a partial water change without the risk of upsetting the new fish, or would it be safe to leave it for a few days?? I just dont want to risk losing anymore fish.
