when I touched it it moved. It is about 1" in diameter and has a center that looked like a little slit but opened a bit and is shaped like a small clam??? I watched move along my live rock after turning the light on while it was dark. can anyone identify?

I'd say it was a fleshy limpet. There's a photo floating around, I'll try to find it.

The more i research, I want to say

this creatur did not have a hard or ribbed shell. The outer layer looked like the black algae I had on my skimmer a few months back. I have a 55 gallon w/ 20lbs or so of live rock. Maybe algae grew on his shell??????????????????????? I don't think that would be the case either. Next time, if ever a next time I will get a picture!!

Does it look like this??

this could also be it??

if it is, the guy on the website sayed it was in his reef tank for 2 years just grazing on algae. So its prolly no big deal.
