Protein Skimmers

I have been currently looking into buying a skimmer for my 55g tank and was wondering what kind do you recommend. I have also since decided that i am going to go ahead and use my wet/dry filter and was wondering how could i set the two up together. Would i be able to fit in the bottom part of the filter or would i have to have it before the water went into the filter?

My protein skimmer fits right into the sump next to the pump.
 
Depending on how much coral and live rock you have, a protein skimmer is a good option. The best on to buy is teh Prism protein skimmers. They are awsome. where i live in asutralia, they sell for 220 au dollars. It is a great investment as it will make the tank so much cleaner.
 
I have got to say one thing at first. I have to say i am greatly aprreciative of all the help here. Thank you all for the help.

One more question, does the skimmer make it to where you dont have to do water changes or does it allow the tank to go longer without changing it. I was just wondering if i should go ahead and invest in a ro system if i will still need to change the water about every week.
