I'm as new at this as you are....but I love those hitchhiker guys! I can't tell from your pic, but it sounds like what I've heard is called an amphipod. Longish guy, translucent, back end kind of curled under the body. They're very fast, have lots of legs and long antennae. I saw one the first day we had the tank set up; now I would guess we have at least 50. Check out this page, see if it's what you've got: http://www.reefs.org/hhfaq/pages/main_pages/faq_rock1.htm

i beleive this guy is relatively slow. and didnt really see any legs, becaue this guy was sitting and gripping on to the rock very well... thanks... anyone else got an idea...

and in the webpage there are a couple of differnt ones that look kinda like it... but wasnt sure... so that's why ii posted the original message...

what do they do? what do they eat?
do they sift around in the sand at night? cuz i see a bunch of trails in the sand... and dont knwo what they are from...

thanks all for the help :)
glad to know that i'm off to a good start... :)

chitons eat algae. I think they also eat corraline algae but I'm not sure on that one. That's o.k. though because that spreads corraline spores. They stay on the rocks and glass. The trails you are seeing could more than likely be bristleworms. They are also very good to have.

more cirtters... i wanna see this worm... :)
thanks
