Chalky Ghost Shrimp??

You could take the observation that your shrimp have turned opaque to indicate that they are moribund; some anectodal information suggests that this sometimes occur immediately prior to molting (I can't say anything about the validity of that correlation - it is likely incidental, as ghost shrimp molt normally without any pronounced coloration change). Does the muscle tissue itself appear opaque? Does the "white" coloration you spoke of have a creamy tinge? Some pictures of your shrimp, and a description of both their setup and how you obtained them would help immensely.
I've had them for 3 weeks, purchased from LFS. I have a 20 gal tank running since November, all readings are good, 0 ammo; 0 trite, 20 trate, 7.2 PH. I now have 2 platies, 3 neons and had 2 danios, but gave them away because they were too hyper. Just lost an albino catfish I only had for 2 weeks. :sad He showed no symptoms other than laying on bottom of tank for days.
