Anyone know how to tell a female electric yellow from a male?

Its a little difficult to tell. They all look the same when young, and are really only sexable when they begin to mature.
Males will be larger, and often have darker colors. Females are smaller, and more timid IMO. This is general of course, i have seen females that are dominant and act like males, even lip lock with other females.

The best way is to have a fish hold eggs, then you know for sure its a female.

I agree, it svery hard to tell the sex of a yellow labs jsut by looking at it. Sure there is clues like black on the fins for males and such but i've seen females that look like Dom. males and males taht look like females.

Best way is to see them spawning, holding or to vent them(but this can be tricky if you dont' know how)

I was considering getting a couple of them but I may wait on that.
