A co-worker of mine has a really neat tamk set up with about 6 inches of water in the bottom, home to guppies and snails, lots of plants, some rock piles home to frogs, and a BIO FILTER, which is a halfa water bottle with a plant(some kind of moss) and a water pump constantly pumping water into this plant. the plant sits on a piece of slate and as the water falls through the plant and across the slate it is naturally filtered.

This is a real neat set-up and i want to try on.
anyone else tried this?

thanks for any advice and when i get it setup i'll post some pics-

The effectiveness of the plant to remove the wastes will depend on a) how fast the plant grows, b) the level of wastes. With light stocking, and the additional bacteria that will colonize other surfaces in the tank, it's very do-able.
