I am about to upgrade my lights from a single 20 watt to a 96 watt lights on a 30 gallon tank. It will be raised slightly off the tank. I have live plants mostly well growing Java, and some slow growing smaller plants. I did a big tank overhaul 2 weeks ago and added undergravel Fertilizer and have a small CO2 system. I have never had an Algae problem, but the light has been low.... the tank has been the same for about 2 yrs, is community based with breeding platies. Health is good.

Anything that I may expect freom the big jump in lighting, besides my plants growing.

Thanks

Algae can be a bigger issue with more lights. I would start by reading here (http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12585). That's a link to the informal fertilization FAQ in the Fresh Water Plant Forum here are Aquaria Central. It's a great introduction to ferlizing aquatic plants. The fertilization actually helps keep algae in check when you go to higher light. Pretty nifty how that works. Plants outcompete algae for nutrients! I think that's spiffy. Anyway, check out that thread. It's a sticky in the plant forum, so it's always easy to find.
