I am interested in getting an Aquaclear 500 power filter to augment filtration on my 125 gal tank. Big Al's Canadian price is $74.99. The US site lists the same filter at $31.99. If I buy from the US site my credit card co. would convert the price to $39.53 plus a small service charge.
Can you think of any reason I should not buy from the US site?

duties across the border, but it should still end up being cheaper. Or you can save on shipping and duties and buy it online here.

Big Al's has two warehouses. One in Niagra falls NY and the other one is in Canada, I believe Toronto. They do that to avoid customs hassles. They may not let you order from the U.S. site.

Well, I just got off the phone. Big Al's us does not ship to Canada!
So, unless I can think of a friend in Port Huron to accept a parcel for me and Then drive over (less than 1 hour) to get it from him, I guess I will buy Canadian. Oh well, I shoould support the Canadian economy i guess. :(

Just a suggestion JLs charges for s&h unless you buy more than $200 cdn - if you do plan on buying that much call BAs (phone) and they will price match JLs.

Thanks for the suggestions to all.
I htink I will mull thsi over for awhile - The London Aquaria society has its semi-annual auction of fish and supplies in early May - maybe I can hold out until then and see if I can scoop a bargain. ;)
