Hi,

Just got a 58-gallon tank and decided to go with a cannister filter. One LFS I know and trust recommended the Cascade 1000 by Penn Plax. I was looking at getting either an Eheim or maybe a Fluval, but I never heard of the Cascade. The owner said Penn Plax took the best of both types and made the Cascade. Anyone using this filter or heard anything about it?

Thanks

Sorry I don't know of Penn Plax, but seriously consider the Filstar XP-3.. Excellent product!

I would NEVER buy any critical piece of aquarium equipment (esp. one that has to hold water) that was made by Penn Plax. In my experience, they make some of the cheapest, shoddiest equipment available. Eheim or Fluval would be safe picks...

Thanks for the recommendations. I must admit, I was thinking the same thing as JSchmidt. I thought Penn Plax was best known for its artificial plant decorations. Still, the owner of the LFS swears by it...troubling.
