Been reading though a lot of the posts / various websites. There seems to be some difference of opimion as to whether to use carbon. I have just set up my tank (35-40gals) - spiral biological filter / drip nitrate filter plus external canister filter containing foam screen (mechanical) / carbon / rowaphos and biomax for further biological filtration. Do I need the carbon or could I do away with it. If I dont need it any suggestions for the extra space I will have in the external filter. Any suggestions would help.
PS using RO water and tank been set up for 2 1/2 weeks. Ammonia / Nitrites nearly back to nil, nitrates coming down. Had some probs with brown algae but added some turbos and this has improved
