Hi,
Just finished building a florescent fixture for 4, 24inch, T12 bulbs for my 29 gallon tank
. Im planning on keeping some live rock and fish. Im not looking to go crazy with the tank so I didnt go with VHO, Metal Halide, etc...
I have read many different opinions on what bulbs to use like what is good enough for a FOWLR 55g setup: 2 Triton bulbs and 1 blue moon reef bulb. I have read many good thinkgs about those bulbs and have done a little research about how many people are turned off by a setup like that.
Right know I have one coralife 20,000K bulb and am looking to add three other bulbs. In the meantime I have three 6500K bulbs till I can make up my mind
.
Any reccomendations would be greatly appreciated. Also would four florescent bulbs be good enough for a 29 gallon reef tank?
Also how high could I mount these lights from my tank, I have heard from a lot of people it is good to have an open exchange with the air in the room. The down side is evaporation but I have no problem topping it off.
I was considering getting some acrlic from home depot and just placing my new light setup right on that
or
going with the open air exchange and hang it above the tank, but I want to keep it high enough to avoid salt spray and low enough to get the most out of my lights. To get enough oxygen in the tank I have two powerheads but removed the airstone because of salt build up around the tank and on my old hood.
Sorry about the multi questions, I know I should search the forums and do more reasearch but im a newbie and in some quick advice.
So my question is what kind of bulbs should I use and where should I put the lights?
Here is the hood I built:
