Is my tank fully stocked?

Hi,

This is my first post, but I've been reading the forum for a while and it's really helpful!

I have a 12 gallon Eclipse tank (set up last July) with six female platies (no fry survived and they aren't having any more). My ammonia and nitrites are always 0 and my nitrate ranges between 10 and 20 depending on when I've done my last water change. Can I add one or two more female platies or is my tank fully stocked?

Thank you!

Juliet

Since female platies grow large than male platies, id say your fully stocked. The can grow up too 2.5 inches each. 2.5 x 6 = 15 inches for 12 gallons of water. The general rule of thumb is 1 inch of fish per gallon of water. If you really wana add another few platies, you could always add another filter which may allow you to overstock a bit....

But, fish like any other beings, need space.
