OK I had some plants in my aquarium (sorry but I dont recall the name of the plants, I can get pics if you needed). Anyways the fish ate all the leaves off of it and just left a stalk sticking up.

Im trying to find some good plants that can co-exist with my chilchlids.

Keep in mind im a noob at all this and my tank is nothing special. I have found reding this board for 3 days that I need aot of things. Im going to try CO2 injection when I learn a bit more bout it and how to not kill my fish with it.

As a rule, cichlids and plants don't mix. They eat and dig at them til they kill them.
Anubias and Java Fern are two that don't have to be planted in the substrate and are tough and the fish tell me they're not too tasty.
Try them.

also depends on what type of cichlids. There are different ways of planting to prevent fish from uprooting them, but that is only half of the battle. If they still want to destroy them, they probably will.
I have a JD in a tank that is heavily planted. There are mostly swords in the tank, that had a chance to develop good root systems to help anchor them down. In the past i have made little rock formations around the base. Different cichlids such as Rams and some smaller South American cichlids do great in a planted tank.
It really depends on what kind of fish you have and how much you trial and error you are willing to go through.

They are mumbas???

I think im just going to go fake plants in that tank and do another planted tank.

Mbuna I have kept with Vallis, successfully.
