View Full Version : Scared Fishies
This may be a dumb question, but I haven't been able to find any info- I recently had a big problem with ich and fungus and lost a bunch of fish. It seems to be better now. I do regular 25% water changes with a python. I have a 20g tank with 10 fish. All little tetras except for 3 algae eaters. My question is this: My fish used to be happy and friendly and come to the glass to greet me and come up to eat as soon as I opened the top. Now, as soon as I show up, they cower in the corner all together, or dart around frantically as though I'm a monster. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Tetras are generally skittish, that explains the schooling, eh?

Agreed. They can be sketchy, and loud noise or vibration will freak them out.

they might think your doing another w/c, you mentioned you had a problem before, so i'm assuming you was in there pretty much. if this is the case then they might think your about to do a w/c or somthing.

Did you test your water, just in case.
Have you been putting your hand in the tank more than in the past? What happens when you feed them? Do they eat when you are there or do they wait untill you clse the top, walk away, etc..
Thanks for the ideas. ph 7.2 ammonia is 0. I don't have any other tests. The fish wait until I leave to eat. Even if I wait there, they won't come up. What other water tests should I get?
