I have an extra 10 gallon laying around and would like to set it up for some cichlids. What type of cichlid and how many would be the best way to go. Are there some small cichlids out there that wouldnt mind sharing a 10 gal?

Do a search either here or on the web for drawf cichlids. Also try shell dwellers AKA shellies cichlids

I cannot offer you any advice, but I have looked them up before.

Some dwarf cichlids such as apistogrammas could work... such as the 'cockatoo' dwarf cichlid (forget the sci name). A pair of german blue rams might work as well.

I would reccommend a trio or quad of some Tangynikan shelldwellers. They are the smallest cichlids available, and live in little snail shells. They are super cute and have the funnest personalities. :) L. ocellatus and N. brevis are two common ones.

Desktop Cichlids (http://www.cichlidrecipe.com/shellweb/shell_intro.htm)

Shelldweller corner (http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/shelldweller_corner.php)

These are a couple of links which I thought were good ones. I am getting 5 multies for my ten gallon next week!

Sorry to bump an old thread but this is right on topic so i figured better then starting a new one...

I have a 10 gallon spare as well, planning another 46 bow front maybe. I currently have 2 Electric Yellows and 2 Cobalt Blue's in the tank, they are still young as they are small. I'm going to redo the landscaping in it a little as it has plants right now and only 2 rocks and turn it into a rock cave thing. Is 2/2 too many already or can I maybe get 1 or 2 more of each and they will be ok till they get bigger and I have to move them into another tank?
