We are somewhat in a pinch for tanks, and will soon be upgrading our 5" Cichlid frontosa and 8" pleco from a 40gal to a 55gal. We also have 2 "medium" sized angels (3" long nose to vent) in a 20gal. Is there any chance the frontosa and angels would coexist in the 55? I am thinking they wont, and just so one one panics, we wont move them unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary, which it is far from right now.

Thanks.

Angels won't last long with them!

Frontosa's are not the killers that some of the other African's are but your Angels would be history if you put them together. Why wouldn't you be able to put the Angels in the 40g?

I would strongly advise against that combination. For one thing, the optimal water conditions for the two species are completely incompatible; for another, they are from two different continents and don't speak the same "body language". Finally, the larger and sturdier size of the frontosa makes them dangerous to the angels under any circumstances.

The 40gal is getting turned into a salt water squarium for my mom's birthday. My dad, brother, sister and I are pooling resources and getting thigns together. My parents have both wanted Salt Water for so long, and its finally coming together.

We are upgrading the Cichlid's tank so it will fit under my brother's other 55, thus reducing floor space. Then the 40gal with the nice stand is going downstairs to become saltwater.

Like I said its not dire, thats why I was just asking. My dad is looking into another tank for the angels as we speak (or type, whatever).

What would you say the minimum size tank for 2 angels and 5 cory cats would be? We bought a ton of fish from a guy, so we could later purchase the 55gal for the frontosa.

Thanks.

I figured as much. It couldnt have worked out that perfectly now could it have?

Part of the reason I asked here is so when I asked my girlfriend (more expeienced with cichlids than I) that I wouldnt get the "duh" response. Thanks, you all saved me.

A pair of angels, some corydoras cats, and perhaps one or two of the smaller pleco species would fit nicely in a 29g tank.

Coincidentally, we have 2 angels, 5 cory cats, and 2 small plecos (really small), and we soon might have a 29gal free. Hmm...
